Infographic: Protect Your Home. Never Ignore Product Recalls

As a first time mom, I am very particular about all the products or appliances that my toddler sees or reach. I guess that's a natural to all parents. It's all about our child/ren's safety. I am always armed with watchful eyes especially now that he's on his very curious stage. Of course no parents would want his child/ren get into any kind of accident.

In relation to this, I would like to share with you this infographic that tells about the dangers brought about by products which were recalled due to issues like design flaws or defects. Some recalled products could be potential to accidents so we really have to be informed about this.

Simple Joys Photo: "Sneaky" With The Maja Maiz

I made Maja Maiz (with cheese overload, my hubby loves cheese!) the other week. Just finished transferring it from the pan when I saw my little one trying to reach it from the table! Haha! Excited lang tikman. The digicam was just beside me so I grabbed it and tadah, he was caught on cam! Huli ka. anak! :-P

Simple Joys Photo: Trev Before Bedtime

Done with Trev's sponge bath and readied him for bedtime. These photos were taken last week during the past rainy days, the weather was cold, thus the sweater and pyjama. He doesn't like blanket kasi. Seen in the photo with Trev are two of his favorite toys, Teddy and Pancho. He loves cuddling those two. Hihi! He's watching Superman with his Tatay when I took this pic. He doesn't want to go to bed yet. :-P

Simple Joys Photo: Trev and His "Pilit" (But Still Cute) Smile! :-)

Lakwatsa mode kami the other week and when I was done putting on Trev's clothes, he suddenly stood up and went near the wall, as seen in the pic above. He just stayed there and stared at us. I immediately grabbed the camera and asked him to smile. He looked like he was asking for me to take his pic kasi. Aba, he happily obliged and gave us his sweet smile. Yun lang mukang pilit ang ngiti! Haha! Nevertheless, still looking cute naman as always, hihi! It was actually the first time na siya ang nagvolunteer (somehow) magpakuha ng pic. Kaaliw! Good job, anak! We love you! :-)

Tamagoyaki: An (O)bento Staple

Two weeks ago, I blogged about my current interest, which is all about (o)bento. And in my attempt to learn how to make (o)bento staples, I tried cooking tamagoyaki or Japanese sweet omelet for may mag-ama. According to this site, Tamagoyaki actually means "fried egg" and is also called atsuyaki tamago which means "thick fried egg". At first I was hesitant to do it because I thought I would have to use a special pan to fry the eggs, but enough research on google led me to a few sites that teaches how to make a tamagoyaki using a regular non stick pan. So, I did and viola, I'm so happy with the results. Never thought it would be that easy to make one.

I used the following on my first attempt:
3 or 4 Eggs (I guess it's actually up to you how many eggs you feel like cooking. As long as it fits your pan of course. I used 5 eggs the other day and it turned out okay. But I can say that 4 is ideal.☺)
Sugar
Salt
Soy Sauce
Mayonnaise
Oil for frying

I beat the eggs with the rest of the ingredients. I didn't include the measurement for each in my list above because honestly when I mixed everything, tancha tancha lang ginawa ko, hihi! I guess it's just about a teaspoon of sugar and soy sauce, a tablespoon of mayonnaise and a pinch of salt for each egg. Adjust the taste according to your preference.

Here's how I did it:

Breastfeeding For 22 Months And Counting!

If you've been reading my blog, you would know that I am pro-breastfeeding. I have written some posts before about my breastfeeding journey and I am so happy to say that Trev and I are on our 22nd month already and still going strong. Thank God for this wonderful blessing! Thank you for giving me the chance to nourish my son Trev with the best liquid gold there is. I will continue to breastfeed my son for as long as he wants. And to all breastfeeding moms and pregnant mommies out there, breastmilk is the best liquid gold you could give your child. Go and continue on that journey. It's all worth it.

Breastfeeding Trev while having lunch at Kenny Rogers. :-)

I am happy to share with you that there's a new book being released very soon by a fellow mommy blogger and the author of When My Bridegroom Comes & How To Have The Wedding Of Your Dreams, a wonderful supermom who's advocating breastfeeding, Ms. Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag. The book is entitled "Breastfeeding: A Journey Worth Taking". I am just so happy and I feel honored to be a part of this book. (Thank you to my former officemate, Grace, for introducing me to Ms. Tere.)

Trev Can't Take His Eyes Off The Spaghetti!

Last week, we went somewhere in Balintawak but before going there, we decided to just eat our lunch at Jollibee Munoz. I guess Trev must love Jollibee Spaghetti talaga because the minute Allan put down our tray of food on the table, Trev couldn't take his eyes off of it already! He kept pointing at the spaghetti and wouldn't look at the camera! Hihi!

This was his initial reaction upon seeing his lunch! Haha! Kaaliw! :-)

Simple Joys Photo: Tatay, Trev and Basketball
We went to Bulacan a few months ago to attend my sister in law's wedding. Trev was so delighted to see some boys playing basketball at the backyard. So, here goes Trev, showed his cuteness and distracted the boys from playing, hahaha! They gave him the ball and allowed him to play for a while. Tatay helped him shoot the ball kaso mataas ang ring, hahaha! My mag-ama had so much fun in that short stint. :-)

Warning: Do You Take Photos Of Your Kids With Your SmartPhone?

I have been seeing this on my FB Timeline for a few days now and it got me curious, so I watched the video. I figured it would be nice to share it here too to serve as a warning, especially to those who take pictures of their kids using their cellphones (smart phones). I never thought they could actually track your location by just doing some clicks on your uploaded pictures taken using your smart phones. That sounds scary, don't you think?

Long Weekend Breakfast Specials

Well, these aren't really special breakfast. They're actually just simple breakfast but I refer to it as "special" because weekend is when Trev and I spend the whole day with my hubby. I try my best to prepare something more during these days. And cooking a "special" breakfast is one of my favorite things to do. It's the start of the day and it's when our bonding moments start, too.

Since it was a long weekend last week, here were the breakfasts I prepared for us. :-)

Banana with Corn Flakes for Trev, for us naman Flower-Shaped Ham, Steamed Okra, Squid-Crab-Octopus Shaped Hotdogs, and Bagoong Rice. :-)

Chic-Boy Lunch

Whenever we go to Walter Mart, we always end up having lunch at Jollibee, which of course we all enjoy, especially for my little one who loves Jollibee Spaghetti. Last week was different though, we decided to try Chic-Boy (Chicken at Baboy) which is located just across Jollibee. The latter was so full that time so since Chic-Boy doesn't have that much costumers yet, we gave it a go. We've been shying away from them basically because we thought they don't serve food that kids like Trev could eat. We thought they only offer lechon and inihaw but when we went inside, they have a variety of food pala. Of course, they also have Trev's favorite, spaghetti. :-)

Trev and his Tatay while waiting for our food. Playing with the table number. :-p

Ginawang toy ni Trev ang table number stand. Haha!

Shopping With Home Depot Gift Card

I was thinking of gifting my parents with something when they move in into their new home soon. You see, they recently acquired a new house and lot in a province near the metro. However, I couldn’t quite decide what item to purchase for them. So, I thought it would be nice to give them a gift card instead. My best bet is Home Depot. With the home depot gift card balance, they have the freedom to purchase whatever they like or need. Home Depot has a wide array to offer, from appliances, to lighting, to décor and a lot more! I’m pretty sure my parents would love to shop there especially with a home depot gift card.

In as much as I want to give tangible items that they can add to their existing furnishings, I am afraid that they might have the item already. I’ve been living away from them for many years now and my most recent visit was last Christmas with my own family. My mom will be very excited to Take Coupons and shop at Home Depot. She’s very passionate about home improvement.  I can’t wait to present them my gift!  I can already imagine the delight on her face when she sees the gift card.

One day, when we finally get to purchase our own property, we’ll definitely visit Home Depot.  Shopping for furnishings there would surely be more awesome and convenient if I have a gift card too!

Kawaii Obento!

Recently, I've been so addicted in checking a lot of obento making tutorials. I find obento, or bento to others, uber cute! When the time comes that my little son starts going to school, I will find time talaga to prepare a kawaii (or cute) obento baon for him. Meanwhile, I am already planning on making obento baon for my hubby as well. I can't wait! Yiii! (Note to hubby: Let's just pretend you didn't read this post, okay? It's supposed to be a surprise! Haha! Don't worry, your obento will be simpler, not too elaborate but will try my best to make it somehow aesthetically pleasing. Hope I can.)

Bento or Obento is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice, fish or meat, with pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in a box-shaped container... Japanese homemakers often spend time and energy on a carefully prepared lunch box for their spouse, child, or themselves .

Bento can be elaborately arranged in a style called "kyaraben" ("character bento"). Kyaraben are typically decorated to look like popular characters from Japanese cartoons (anime), comic books (manga), or video games. Another popular bento style is "oekakiben" or "picture bento". This is decorated to look like people, animals, buildings and monuments, or items such as flowers and plants. -- Source

I went on a trip at Saizen Trinoma to check if they have obento accessories so I can scout which items I could buy for my obento making journey but there were just a few items I like in their store. Aside from that, they don't have the other accessories I am looking for. Hopefully, I could visit their branch in Robinson's Galleria so I can check if they have a wider range of accessories. I went there before and their Saizen branch is huge! I'm so excited!

I remember when Trev was still starting to eat solid food, I used to make fun shapes out of his fruits and oatmeal cereal. I feel so happy whenever I see the delight on his face. I have always home-made his food kasi. No store-bought food for him. I find so much happiness whenever I prepare a new set of food for him, I can't explain why, basta parang nakakawala ng stress and pagod. :-)

See the pics below. I think I made those when Trev was around 10 months old. I know it's far from looking like a cute obento (these aren't even obentos, hihi!) but I had so much fun when I was still doing these with Trev's food so I'm pretty sure I would feel the same way with obentos.

The Day I Met Mommy Practicality

Oopps, this is actually a super late post. Mommy Louise and I met last July 31. I went to her office to claim my prize from winning her recent giveaway. Since we don't have a yaya/helper, my husband filed for a vacation leave (thanks, mahal ko! ☺). I went to meet Mommy Louise in the afternoon because I had to make sure that my mag-ama are well-settled before I leave them. I prepared their merienda and I breastfed Trev before leaving. (Sometimes, it's really hard for me to go out without my mag-ama, parang may kulang when I go out alone eh. Hihi! Oh well, maybe it's just me.)

I was also able to meet the other winner, Jhoanne, who also claimed her winnings that day. We had some chitchat and found out that she's also a breastfeeding mama! Nice.

Anyway, it was so exciting to finally meet the very sweet Mommy Louise. Our chitchat was really bitin, sayang! The three of us parted ways at almost 5pm.

Here's a photo of us which I grabbed from her FB Fan Page.
