Product Review: Human Heart Nature Bug Shield Mosquito Repellent

We all know that dengue is almost everywhere nowadays. Nakakaparanoid especially if you have a baby like me. I get really worried whenever I see that Trev got bitten again by those pesky mosquitoes. Before, as paranoid as I may be, I haven't really used any insect repellent on Trev. When he was younger, we bought him a mosquito net pero since he's so malikot while sleeping, he almost always end up being outside the net in the middle of his sleep. Haha! I make sure though that he's always wearing pyjama because those mosquitoes love to bite his legs, hay! One day, my former officemate asked me what I use to repel those mosquitoes from biting on Trev's skin, I told her I wasn't really applying anything on him. Those times kasi, I was afraid na baka there are bad chemicals on those insect repellents na di puwede for my baby. But then, I realized, there are a number of natural products available out there, so why not try?

Then I discovered Human Heart Nature's Bug Shield Mosquito Repellent. I think it's the same HHN Citronella Spray but HHN made it even more powerful by adding soy bean and eucalyptus oil. Of course, it still has the same reliable DEET-free formula.

Product Review: Human Heart Nature Bug Shield Mosquito Repellent
100% No Harmful Chemicals: No DEET, parabens, synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, formaldehyde or other toxic substances.

Based on HHN website:
Did you know: "DEET which is used in many insect repellents was developed for military warfare and not for daily, long-term use. Studies have shown that long-term exposure to DEET kills brain neurons and affects the central nervous system."

The first thing that I noticed about this product was the scent. It reminds me very much of Blue Gardens (Wedding And Events Venue). That was where our wedding was held and the entire garden was so nicely scented with Citronella. It was very calming, me thinks. I guess my baby loves the scent too because whenever I apply a little oil on his skin, he would sniff a bit and enjoy the relaxing smell. Once he sees me getting the bottle from his drawer, he would point to it and rub his hands on his legs as if telling me to put some on him na. Haha!

As for the texture, I love the fact that the oil is non-greasy. It gets easily absorbed by the skin and a small drop goes a long way, really! The bottle comes with a pump so I pump a small amount of oil on my hand and massage it on Trev's exposed areas (arms and legs.)

Based on our experience, this product is an effective way of shooing off those pesky mosquitoes. I noticed that Trev hasn't been bitten by those annoying mosquitoes eversince I used this product on him. I make sure, too, that I reapply especially when I remove his pyjama in the morning.

I'm so glad that it has no harmful chemicals. It's a very gentle formula, thus, it's so suitable for younger children like my little Trev. It's dermatologically tested to be non-irritating and safe.

And it's so affordable, too, at only Ph99.75 for a 50ml bottle. And like I said, a small drop of oil goes a long, long way! So, it's really matipid. :-)

I just love Human Heart Nature products (even before I became a dealer, courtesy of my winning from Mommy Practicality's giveway ☺)! Noon pa, I have been using some of their products for me and my baby and I must say that I am really satisfied. One other thing that I love about HHN is their mission

Here's another from their site
"Be a part of our Farmer’s Fund Drive! Combat dengue while battling poverty. 100% of the profits from every Bug Shield Oil and Bug Shield Lotion sold will fund the development of sustainable livelihood for our partner farming communities in Malaybalay, Bukidnon. Our goal is to sell 50,000 bottles which will fund the citronella oil processing facilities in Brgy. Imbayao and Brgy. San Jose in Bukidnon. Join us as we show the farmers our commitment to help end poverty for them!"

Isn't it great? Aside from getting the best for your family, you also get to help other people, too?

  1. We are using it that too. And I agree, one drop goes a long way na. Tapos na-observe ko din pag nagapply kami nyan buong kwarto talaga umaamoy parang scented candle lang. Saka kahit langaw ayaw na dumapo hehe.
