Simple Joys Photo: "Selfie on Selfie?" :-P

We don't normally do this all the time but I found this picture so amusing. Haha!

I was taking a picture of us when he insisted to get my cellphone and pretended to take a picture, too. Silly kid. Adorable! You make your Tatay and Nanay happy all the time. Be a good boy always, okay? We will always be here for you. Oh, how we love you so, Trev anak!

Happy Chinese New Year!

It’s Chinese New Year today! Happy New Year! Hubby’s home because it’s a holiday! Double hurray! Anyway, we were at SM The Block almost two weeks ago when we saw this.

Hubby took this photo.

Nice, right?

I think there was some sort of a pre-Chinese New Year celebration that day. I noticed a program being readied. Some men were setting up the stage for a mini concert maybe. I’m not sure if I saw something similar to the cool lachapell audio signal processors at guitar center. And then, guess what? We bumped into Snooky Serna at the elevator. She was in full costume. Some of her fans were taking pictures with her. However, when the elevator opened, we didn’t join her inside. Haha! We were shy. We just took instead the next lift going up.

Maybe, there was indeed a show that day.

Simple Joys Photo: Packages!

Guess what? These packages arrived at our door steps three days ago! As in all of them. Talk about surprises! So happy! Thank you sooo much to all the sponsors!

The delivery guys kept coming into our house that day and I was surprised that everything arrived in one day. And no, I didn't shell out a single centavo to purchase all these. Although, two of the packages were bought using coupons, ahihi!

Thank God for all the blessings!

Anyway, I'm excited to let you know what these are. Will blog about it soon!

ENT Visit + Some "Free" Shopping Loots

Actually, it was not just a simple ENT visit. Here's the story.

Sometime last year, late November or mid December, I forgot exactly when, during Trev's pedia check up, we were informed by his doctor that Trev has impacted cerumen (ear wax) build up on both of his ears. Yes, in spite of my diligence in keep his ears clean since he was born. I was sad when I heard about it. We were advised to put this certain ear drops on both of his ears for one week to soften the cerumen. So, we did. On the fifth day, I noticed that whenever I tried to even lightly touch Trev's right ear, he would cringe and cry and wouldn't want me to touch it. Then, I knew he was in pain. I checked his ears and noticed that some parts were peeling. I got worried. So, I didn't continue the drops anymore and stopped on the fifth day, instead of his doctor's advice which is 7 days. We brought him to his pedia once again and asked why he was in pain. His pedia checked his ears and referred us to an ENT doctor, which fortunately, Healthway has, too. So we just transferred to the other room and waited for the ENT doctor to check our little boy.

Product Review: Lotus Caramelised Biscuit Spread

Uso pa ba ang cookie butter ngayon? Actually, I have never tasted one. Well, except for the Go Nuts Donuts na cookie butter flavor we had several months ago. I heard there's Trader Joe's, Biscoff spread, etc, etc. But really, I haven't tried any of those.

Anyway, Trev and I were at the grocery one day when I saw this on the shelf.

Product Review: Lotus Caramelised Biscuit Spread

I got curious. Although, it's Lotus, I guess this is different from the Lotus Biscoff spread. They didn't have the speculoos kind at the time we were at the grocery though. Anyway, that's fine. :-)

Going back, since my curiosity bit me again, I got one and added it to our grocery basket.

On Pregnancy and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Did any of you mommies experience this? I did! And let me tell you, it’s hard. I guess that’s even an understatement. I couldn’t even say in words how painful mine was.

Looking back, I remember before I turned 20 weeks pregnant, I already noticed some pain on both of my hands. And at 20 weeks, it became really painful. As my pregnancy progressed, the pain was almost unbearable already. My OB said it was Pregnancy – Induced Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). She prescribed Vitamin B Complex but I guess the pain was too painful I couldn’t feel the effect of the medicine anymore. But then again, had I not taken it, maybe the pain would have been more intense. I even had steroid injections at around 35 or 36 weeks along the way, I can't remember exactly, to help my baby's lung development inside my womb (which was also supposed to aid my CTS, according to my OB).

Update: I was 31 weeks pregnant pala when I had my steroid injections.

Here I was with my first steroid shot. 31 weeks pregnant.

What causes carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy?

The carpal tunnel is a bony canal formed by the wrist bones on three sides and a ligament that runs across the wrist on the other. The fluid retention and swelling that's so common during pregnancy can increase the pressure in this relatively narrow and inflexible space, compressing the median nerve that runs through it.

The median nerve gives sensation to the thumb and the index, middle, and half of the ring finger and is responsible for movement of a muscle at the base of the thumb. Pressure on this nerve causes the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Thrift Find: Colgate Toothbrush

I have been meaning to get Trev a new toothbrush because his Oral-B Stages toothbrush badly needs a replacement. :-P

Some three weeks ago, we happened to pass by Mercury Drug to buy Trev his vitamins. While hubby was paying at the cashier, Trev and I were looking around at the shelves. I saw this Colgate Toddler Toothbrush.

Simple Joys Photo: Trev's "OOTD" Shot

Who said it's boring to dress up little boys? :-P

I enjoy dressing up my little prince. Nowadays, there are a lot of nice and cute shirts, shorts, pants, etc, that’s available everywhere to make your little boys’ outfit stand out. Some you’ll find online, some you’ll see at the malls like SM.

This is just a simple OOTD that I came out it with for Trev but he loves it and he’s comfy with it. So, I’m good with that. I bought the shirt when he was only 11 months. It was supposed to be for his 1st birthday (race car theme) but it was a little too big for him then so at the last minute, I changed my mind and bought a different shirt. Now that he’s 27 months, it fits him just right.

Chilly Sunday Morning :-)

It has been very cold these past few days, di ba? Ginawin pa man din ako, hihi! How ironic because laman ako ng bundok dati during my mountaineering days and nakakaya ko yung lamig dun. Ngayon, ewan ko ba.

Anyway, the only person here that's really enjoying the cool breeze is our little prince. Ako, ginaw na ginaw, siya naman pahirapan ang pagsuot ko ng jacket sa kanya. He wants to be in his sando lang. Sometimes, he agrees though. :-P

Last Sunday was the coldest so far, based sa pakiramdam ko, although everyday is very chilly talaga. The little one woke up really early and wanted to go outside. I didn't want to because nilalamig ako but he insisted. I allowed him, good thing he didn't remove his jacket and PJs.

Aba, he had fun jumping and running and pointing to the birds, cats, dogs and plants outside.:-)

Here were some of his photos before he and his Tatay went out for a walk.

Our Simple Rings

I realized just now that it’s almost February already. And in less than two weeks, it will be our third wedding anniversary. I am really amazed at how time passes us by. Next thing I know, our little boy is already in school. Hah! Anyway, I was looking at our wedding photos when I saw this.

That's our wedding ring. It’s very simple, yes? We actually chose to have a simple ring. No frills, no designs, not even gold, just simple stainless steel wedding bands. The rings pretty much represent how we are as a couple. Before we found the perfect ring for our wedding, we had gone from different jewelers and jewelry stores searching for the one. We even went to Meycauayan, Bulacan to check out prices on customized designs. I also checked online stores like the jewelry store salt lake city to see if we could find a nice pair and have it custom-made. But beyond all the searches, we still ended up with our simple rings. Well I guess at the end of the day, the design doesn’t really matter. What’s important is the person you’re wearing the ring with and the love that you have for each other.

And oh, did you notice our simple engagement ring from the thumbnails above, too? :-)

Book Launch: Breastfeeding, A Journey Worth Taking

First of all, I would just like to express my happiness and gratitude because Trev and I are still going strong in our breastfeeding journey. We're now on our 27th month and still counting! Thank God! I have no qualms about extending this journey and I have no plans to wean Trev anytime soon. I will breastfeed him for as long as he wants. I will breastfeed him until he self-weans. I feel really blessed that God has given me the chance to nourish my little boy with the best liquid gold that is breastmilk. Yes, in our experience, it was not an easy road to travel at first. But, it's all worth it. This journey is really worth taking!

If you've stumbled upon my blog before, you might have noticed that I am pro-breastfeeding and have written quite a number of posts about our breastfeeding journey. The challenges we went through, the benefits we're reaping, the cuddles, snuggles and the bond Trev and I are sharing, the support my ever supportive and loving husband, Allan, is giving me, and all else in between. I feel really blessed. I am one proud and happy breastfeeding Nanay!

Another thing, I have also shared with you about the newest book that Ms. Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag recently published, Breastfeeding: A Journey Worth Taking. I feel really honored to be a part of Ms. Teresa's book. Through it, I hope I could somehow become an inspiration to other moms who want to breastfeed their babies. Mommies, just continue on with that journey. If you're encountering any difficulties, be strong and pray. You'll make it through. :-)

How's Your Weekend?

Hello friends! How was your weekend? It was chilly here in our place. And I guess the only person that's really enjoying the cold weather here is our little boy! He doesn't want to use any blanket when sleeping so I make sure to don him in his PJs and jacket or sweater. That, at least, he allows me to do. Haha!

Anyway, I was just thinking. Since moving in at our new home, I have been really wanting to decorate it like the ones I see on the magazines I read, like Real Living. Or at least close to it. Err, I'm no interior designer. But as of this time, I just can’t. First, we don’t even have a living room or a dining room set yet. We’re saving that for later. We can still do without it for now because we have our old monoblock chairs and tables which still serve its purpose. We’ll get to that in the future.

For now, our priority is to save up for the fence and gate first, and maybe paint next or screens for the doors and windows perhaps. Long story short, I have to set aside my plans of decorating our home for the mean time. So, even if I saw these gorgeous burlap table runners that I really wanted to get for our dining room, I have to keep myself from buying it for now. No matter how lovely it looks, as of this time, no can do! Haha! But that’s okay, really.

For now, I can only dream. God willing, it will happen one day.

My ZALORA PH Online Shopping Experience

I was supposed to place my first online purchase at ZALORA last November but I decided to delay it until we're finally settled into our new home. I made a mental note that I should use my ZALORA voucher before the year ends because I was afraid it would expire. So, when we finally moved in to our humble abode a few days before Christmas Day, I told myself that I should order already.

I thought it would be much better if I use my ZALORA voucher to purchase my hubby a new pair of shoes. It was supposed to be a New Year's gift surprise but I decided to just tell him beforehand so he could choose which pair he wants best. ZALORA offers really awesome items we couldn't decide which is better. Haha!

Anyway, I was able to place my order on Dec. 31, yeah right, last shopping for 2013! I received an email that it was shipped January 2, so I was already set to expect my items the following week since it was indicated in the email that provincial delivery takes 5-7 days. But I was so surprised because I received the package the next day! That fast! Nice!

Here it is!

Internet Subscription, Finally!

Yey! After almost a month of living in our new home and after being content with using a prepaid stick to connect to the internet, finally we now have an internet subscription. Hubby applied for a plan last week and it was installed immediately after two days, I think. However, we requested the persons who installed the line to just put the cables by the window for now because we still have to fix something in here. Good thing we have cable ties from reidsupply.com, it’s easier to organize the internet cables. Hopefully, hubby will be able to fix it later today.

Anyway, I’m just glad our internet connection is okay and fast. I won’t be worried too much for not being able to surf the net. If you’re a blogger like me, you know the feeling, right? :-)
