First of all, I would just like to express my happiness and gratitude because Trev and I are still going strong in our breastfeeding journey. We're now on our 27th month and still counting! Thank God! I have no qualms about extending this journey and I have no plans to wean Trev anytime soon. I will breastfeed him for as long as he wants. I will breastfeed him until he self-weans. I feel really blessed that God has given me the chance to nourish my little boy with the best liquid gold that is breastmilk. Yes, in our experience, it was not an easy road to travel at first. But, it's all worth it. This journey is really worth taking!
If you've stumbled upon my blog before, you might have noticed that I am pro-breastfeeding and have written quite a number of posts about our breastfeeding journey. The challenges we went through, the benefits we're reaping, the cuddles, snuggles and the bond Trev and I are sharing, the support my ever supportive and loving husband, Allan, is giving me, and all else in between. I feel really blessed. I am one proud and happy breastfeeding Nanay!
Another thing, I have also shared with you about the newest book that Ms. Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag recently published, Breastfeeding: A Journey Worth Taking. I feel really honored to be a part of Ms. Teresa's book. Through it, I hope I could somehow become an inspiration to other moms who want to breastfeed their babies. Mommies, just continue on with that journey. If you're encountering any difficulties, be strong and pray. You'll make it through. :-)

From the Press Release:
Filipino Mom and Inspirational Author Launches BREASTFEEDING: A JOURNEY WORTH TAKING
Filipino mom, inspirational author and breastfeeding advocate launches a breastfeeding book to encourage and empower fellow moms to give the best milk to their children.
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino mom and inspirational author Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag will launch her latest book BREASTFEEDING: A Journey Worth Taking on January 25, 2014 at Mothercare, Active Fun Building, Bonifacio Global City from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The breastfeeding mom and author discussed breastfeeding basics in her latest book, which would be most helpful to first-time moms. Aside from sharing her own breastfeeding story that is replete with challenges, the author also featured stories of triumph over breastfeeding challenges by moms from different walks of life. This included stay-at-home moms, work-at-home moms, moms working outside the home and even mompreneurs.
The author, who successfully breastfed her two sons, now aged five and two, listed in the book’s introduction the following reasons for writing her latest book.
- To inspire more moms — especially Filipinas — to breastfeed their babies.
- To help educate more Filipino women on the benefits of breastfeeding.
- To help more Filipino babies and mommies to be healthy by encouraging a culture of breastfeeding.
- To equip and empower moms who have made the decision to breastfeed by providing them a simple guide that can help them get started.
- To support breastfeeding moms who have bravely taken on the challenge to breastfeed their babies by letting them know that even though it’s natural to encounter challenges along the way, they can succeed if they persevere and get help from the right people.
- To assure moms who are considering to breastfeed their babies that it’s possible to breastfeed and achieve their breastfeeding goals, despite whatever circumstance they find themselves in.
"At first I didn’t understand why I had to go through a lot of tests or challenges in my breastfeeding journey, especially with my eldest son," Gumap-as Dumadag shares. "Looking back however, I realized that God allowed me to experience those tests because He will eventually use those tests to become my testimony to inspire and empower other moms.”
“I am thankful that Teresa thought of writing this book. It is just pure inspiration for moms who really plan to breastfeed for the first year/s of their child’s life,” says Ginger Arboleda (Mommy Ginger), a breastfeeding mom, a blogger and the mompreneur behind Manila Workshops.
“I recall turning to Google for answers that I needed when it came to breastfeeding, but with this book, you get so much more. You get to read not only the technicalities and the straight-forward facts, but you also get a glimpse into the life of real women; women who have experienced the same situations and problems. They share, not only facts, but even what they felt during these experiences,” Arboleda adds.
The book launch and book signing is co-presented by Full Life Cube Publishing and Events Services, Manila Workshops and Mothercare Philippines. The event is sponsored by Medela Breastfeeding Products, Cradle baby bottle and nipple cleanser, Cycles mild laundry detergent for babies, Cycles Sensitive, Mama Chows, Moringana by Organics Asia, Island Rose and Zalor Maternal Care Massage Services. Media partners include Smart Parenting Online and The Philippine Online Chronicles.
BREASTFEEDING: A Journey Worth Taking can be purchased online through the book’s Facebook Page, by emailing the author at teresa@fulllifecube.com and through its resellers for only P499 per copy. Like it on Facebook via https://www.facebook.com/BreastfeedingJourneyWorthTaking.

Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag is a Filipina mom who shares inspiration and wisdom through her books, articles, blog and her workshops. BREASTFEEDING: A Journey Worth Taking is her third book. Her two other books are When My Bridegroom Comes and How to Have the Wedding of Your Dreams. She works from home as a consultant for management, human resources and training solutions, a career coach and counselor, a blogger and a speaker. She’s also a freelance contributing writer for Smart Parenting Online, The Philippine Online Chronicles, Kerygma and Didache. She homeschools her kids while breastfeeding her youngest son on demand and tandem feeding them at night.

I breastfed my youngest, Adrian who is now eight years old, till he turned five. I stopped telling people I am breastfeeding him when he was 2 because people (especially in our culture) react wildly about it. I can totally relate actually to that time mag cover (except that the mom there looks awesome and me, I need to lose some weight hehe). I have no regrets about extended breastfeeding.
