Uso pa ba ang cookie butter ngayon? Actually, I have never tasted one. Well, except for the Go Nuts Donuts na cookie butter flavor we had several months ago. I heard there's Trader Joe's, Biscoff spread, etc, etc. But really, I haven't tried any of those.
Anyway, Trev and I were at the grocery one day when I saw this on the shelf.
I got curious. Although, it's Lotus, I guess this is different from the Lotus Biscoff spread. They didn't have the speculoos kind at the time we were at the grocery though. Anyway, that's fine. :-)
Going back, since my curiosity bit me again, I got one and added it to our grocery basket.
Being that I love sweets, when we got back home, I opened it immediately.
Well, of course, I got a piece of bread and scooped some of the spread to slather to my slice. Haha!
Okay, so here's what I found out.
Taste: It actually tastes good! I love that it's not too sweet. For me, it's just right. I don't know but that first bite I was actually thinking it was a combination of peanut butter and coco jam with caramel. Hihi! Weird ba? I'm not sure. But, yeah, I like it. My two boys (yep, hubby and son) love it, too. Right, I gave the little guy a bite. :-)
Texture: It's rich, smooth and creamy. You can see from the photo above. It's spreadable, too. I actually put it in the fridge but it didn't harden like peanut butter (yep, I put peanut butter inside the fridge, do you?).
Price: Well, guess what? In my humble opinion, it's pricey. I couldn't actually compare it to the price of the speculoos kind because I honestly don't have any idea how much those are, but for me, Ph350 is expensive. :-P
Anyway, my curiosity and cravings were satisfied. But I might not get another jar in the near future though. Not because I don't like the taste, as a matter of fact I do. It's just that it's way beyond the budget for me. And uhmm, I guess it's not too good for someone like me who wants to shed some pounds. I tend to over-indulge. In fact, the jar was finished in just a few days. Oh no! Not good. Blame my sweet tooth! :-P

I'm curious of this product, too! I see it in the shelves of SM, and yes, a jar's too expensive for me haha. I think this is the pretty much the same as cookie butter, though. Gusto ko tuloy i-try!
ReplyDeleteGo, sis! In my opinion, it's yummy. Naku, kung di lang mahal yan, mapapabili ulit ako. Haha!
DeleteThis is like speculoos din (parang mas yummy pa nga ata hehe) and laging ubos here in our house. Pinupulutan ng mga girls. But agree ba kayo na boys hate sweet stuff? My son hates this. Pinagalitan ako minsan: Mama, I did not eat my baon! What's that weird brown thing on my sandwich! I hate that! (butter and cheese lover siya hehe)
ReplyDeleteYummy, noh? If may budget, malamang mapabili ulit ako. But not in the near future siguro. Next time. :-)
DeleteHaha! Naaliw ako sa reaction ng son mo. But I agree about the cheese thing. My son and hubby loves cheese, as in! Sabi ko nga, manang mana ang anak ko sa Tatay niya kasi kahit mga gusto like cheese, fave din niya. :-)
