Free Download of Breastfeeding Book in Support of World Breastfeeding Week 2014

My son Trev is now 2 years and 9 months old, is already in school and I am happy to say that he's still breastfeeding until now. Yes, 33 months into it and like I always say, no plans of weaning him yet, as long as he still wants to nurse from me, I would be very happy to continue with our journey. It's absolutely worth it! We're really very thankful for this blessing.

Anyway, remember the very inspiring book BREASTFEEDING: A Journey Worth Taking where I feel really honored that our breastfeeding story of triumph (and other moms' from different walks of life, too) was published? Well, I have great news for all of you moms and would-be moms! The book is now available on Amazon Kindle!

Read on to find out more about it. :-)

Georcelle Dapat-Sy: Dancer, Mentor, Mother

Teacher G talks about unlocking latent talent in young kids

Georcelle Dapat-Sy is first and foremost a dancer – mention “dance” and her name is bound to crop up in the entertainment circle of the local industry. Her dedication and commitment to her craft has earned her a niche in a saturated industry that will make room for someone who has worked hard to distinguish her talent. However, Georcelle’s talent in grace in motion is not confined to the stage or the studio alone; it spills over into her personal life, in her mothering, and ultimately in her mentoring of the next generation at large.

Once again, Georcelle gets involved in Promil’s Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp, which aims to tap the inert talents of the very young and to help them wield the potency that they hold inside.

“The Promil Pre-school program is about recognizing talent. When the potential is seen in a young person, it is categorized,” Georcelle says. Whether innate intelligence or a natural inclination for arts, the mother of three is keen on picking out kids who are naturals in dancing. And this is when the fun starts.

Georcelle knows the benefits of early intervention or starting the mentoring while they’re soft and pliant. She herself started out that way.

Bento Snack Baon: Hearts & Circles, Etc.

Hello there! How are you all doing? I hope you're all safe after the storm Glenda. Trev's classes were suspended for two days last week but now, we're back on track although there are still occasional rains like today.

Anyway, here's the bento snack baon I prepared for the little one three weeks ago! Huhu, yeah, that long ago. As in super back log na ito.

Monday: Hearts and circles. Well, I just noticed that this baon is composed of both hearts and circles, so I named it that. Haha! Heart-shaped cheese sandwich, heart-shaped tamagoyaki, circle oatmeal cookies, and mango balls. Even his yogurt drink is strawberry flavored, which happened to have a shape like a heart, too. And oh, I used heart-shaped food picks pala! Haha!

Trev In School Uniform

Taking a picture of Trev in school uniform is a challenge! Haha! I don’t know why but whenever he’s wearing his uniform and I ask him to pose for a photo, he would automatically refuse and would run in and out of the house just to hide! Ang cute lang, hihi!

Anyway, he’s always excited to go to school. As you can see in the photo, he already got our door keys and was trying to open the door. He just loves school and we’re so glad he does. He always says "Go to school! Go to school! Let's go!".

My effort in trying to take a picture of him while wearing his uniform (and suspenders, hihi!).
Tinatakbuhan talaga ako!

Trev's Home Reading Nook

One of Trev's activities in play school is called "Show And Tell". They do it every Friday. On their first week, his teacher asked the class to bring a picture of their home reading nook.

Trev loves books. Too sad that the only store here at Waltermart that sells preloved children's books has already closed. Huhu.

Anyway, when Trev started schooling, he became even more inlove with his books. As in he would ask me or his Tatay to read him books almost non-stop. We'd read several books in one sitting. Haha! And we're really happy about that. Now, he doesn't even remember he used to love watching cartoons (although they're educational cartoons naman like Word World). He prefers reading his books. If he's not reading, he's painting or tracing or playing with his building blocks.

So, here's what we submitted to his teacher for his home reading nook project. This project made me wish na sana Trev has a book shelf of some sort at home. Sigh. Wala kasi eh. And I really want to buy more books for him pa. He just loves them talaga! Sana pala when his god parents were asking me what gifts I want for Trev, I should have said books na lang. Haha! :-P

The first two pictures were taken at our living room. That's the toddler chair and table we bought for him when he was more than a year old pa lang. We just changed the cover lang and put plastic cover na rin. :-)

Packaging and Practicality

One of the things that get consumers attracted to a product is its packaging. Usually, when a product, say a dishwashing liquid or a shampoo perhaps, is contained in a bottle that’s convenient to use, consumers tend to consider buying it. It’s also a practical way to save because mostly, these containers could be reused for other purposes like pouring your liquid detergent from a pouch to your empty pumped bottle.

There are actually online market places that make creative containers and packaging, like Allinpackaging. So, if you’re planning to sell your own merchandise, say a Do-It-Yourself or home-made perfume or soap, you could choose the best containers for your product, so as in a way, could also attract customers.

There are a lot of varied containers to choose from, from tubes to pumps to jars to canisters, name it. And usually these companies offer labelling as well, so it sure is a great deal!

For those practical people like I am, let’s try to see what containers or packaging are best to use and reuse as well:

Potty Training Success!

Hello there! Been a while. Happy to update again. :-)

Since my son Trev started schooling, my days have always been full and I barely have time to blog these days. Huhu. But, nevertheless, I am enjoying every bit of it! Yesterday, one of his classmates celebrated her 2nd birthday at school and it's cute pala when kids celebrate inside the classroom. Kaaliw! The kids were all very happy! Trev went home with a very cute Olaf backpack full of goodies!

Anyway, I would just like to share with you my son's potty training journey. If you've stumbled, by any chance, upon my blog before, you might have read about one of our struggles in potty training Trev. I am so happy to tell you that he's finally getting the hang of it! Hurray!

Last month, we bought him a potty trainer. Confession, one of the things that I honestly forgot when we thought it was time for us to potty train Trev was to buy a potty trainer. Haha! Of all the things! I thought kasi it would come to him naturally to learn to use the rest room. I never realized that a potty trainer is of great importance din pala. Well, I guess, it's a case to case basis pa rin, it depends. I guess some kids were able to learn how to relieve themselves without the use of a potty trainer.

In our case, it was very useful. Like I mentioned above, I told hubby that we should get Trev a potty trainer so when we were shopping for his school supplies last month at Trinoma, I took the chance to look for one, too, at The Landmark. Gladly, we found the perfect potty trainer for him!

This was actually one of the most affordable potties on display at Ph319. I love its simplicity. No frills and very easy to clean, too. And oh, it's also convertible to a toddler chair when your child has finally learned how to use the real potty, err the toilet bowl! :-)

In line with this advocacy, the i-Shine Talent Camp aims to help exceptionally talented preschoolers develop their full potential.  Aside from the extensive workshops, the roles of parents and proper nutrition will also play a big part in nurturing the preschoolers’ gifts to mastery.

Last Week's Bento Snack Baon

It's been almost three weeks and Trev's enjoying school a lot. Everyday, he always gets excited. He'd exclaim, "Go to school, number 1 school!" almost all the time. Haha! How adorable! I don't even know where he got those words. Kaaliw! :-)

Anyway, here were the bento snacks that I prepared for him last week.

Monday:  My son likes hopia so I included one here. Also cooked home-made pancakes for him then cut it into bite-size pieces. I always make sure to include at least one type of fruit, hence the grapes. Then hubby bought coconut cookies so I added one, too. :-)
