Here's another home-made recipe I found from the FB group that I am a member of. Credit to all those who keep on sharing their recipes. It really gives moms like me new adventures in the kitchen which makes the whole family happy! Thank you for this recipe. :-)
Home-made ice cream! Here's what I used to make this yummy treat.
Anyway, I just tweaked the recipe a bit based on how I want the taste to be. I love sweets yes, but I don't like it too sweet so I decided to lessen the condensed milk from the original recipe.
Ingredients:
- (2) 250ml Nestle All Purpose Cream
- (1) 125ml or half of the Condensed Milk (1 pack contains 250ml)
- (1) pack Oreo Cookies
Procedure:
- Chill the all purpose cream and the condensed milk in the ref for a minimum of 2 hours.
- Using a wire whisk or an electric mixer, mix two packs of all purpose cream and half a pack of the condensed milk. With regards to how long you should whisk it depends on the mixer that you are going to use. I believe it would only take a few minutes if you use an electric mixer.
- Add the flavor of your choice. In this case, I used Oreo cookies.
- Mix until well incorporated.
- Pop it in the freezer, preferably overnight.
- Enjoy!
Yes, I only used two packs of all purpose cream. I figured 3 would be too many for us so I just used two. :-)
At first, I tried using a wire whisk but I felt it was kind of difficult to make the mixture become double in volume. But it's still possible though. Some moms say that it took them around an hour using a wire whisk.
Using a wire whisk.
So, I tried using this instead. And hurray because after more than 20 minutes of non-stop mixing, I was able to double the mixture's volume.
Just simply push the handle down and the "whisk" automatically turns like an electric mixer does. It's still manually done though since you have to repeatedly do the process many times, haha!
Look here, in action. :-P
After almost 30 minutes of mixing, here's the result.
Double in volume, wohoo!
Then I added the flavor of my choice. In this case, I used Oreo cookies. Crush the cookies then mix it together with your mixture.
Mix, mix, mix!
After mixing, here's how it looked like.
Well incorporated.
I didn't crush all the cookies though. I added a few chunky cookies to give the ice cream a little bit of texture.
Yes, with the vanilla filling, too!
Then, just mix them altogether again.
The little guy's excited already! Haha!
Uhhmm, okay, he ate a few pieces of the cookies. Excuse the madungis face. :-)
Then I put it into the freezer, well, supposedly overnight.
But uhmm, we couldn't wait so we tried checking it out after two hours. And guess what, it's almost frozen already! Yay!
Can't wait! :-P
Wow, ice cream!!!
I swear it has the texture of real ice cream! And no kidding, it was really yummy!
Even hubby loved it, too!
The next day was even much better. I thought I'd see some ice crystals (uhhmm, I honestly don't know how to explain it but I hope you know what I mean with "ice crystals") but no, it was still all smooth! I'm excited to make some again for the holidays!
Now, what flavor will I do next! Hmm... :-)
Have you tried this recipe, too? Care to share the result?
If you haven't yet, go ahead and try it now! You won't regret it. ;-)
