The Military Diet And How I Lost 14lbs. in 2 months

And counting! Yes, because I haven't achieved my target weight yet.
Please don't get me wrong, I am happy with my weight now. But if I could just, you know, make it go down just a tiny bit more... :-P

When I was still single, I have always been skinny. I can't even remember if I ever reached 100 lbs back then. I was almost always at 90-95 lbs. There was even a time I weighed only 88 lbs. Despite that, I have always been healthy and very, very rarely gets sick. I was honestly comfortable with my weight then. I can easily fit into extra small to small-sized clothes. I was even an active mountain climber back when I was around 90 lbs. By the way, I am only 5 feet flat. :-)

Fast forward to present time. Okay, now that I have given birth (well, 3 years ago actually!), and I am in my mid 30s already, my metabolism has slowed down. I was really alarmed when I saw (last year) that my weight was increasing! Waah! I couldn't wear most of my clothes anymore. I resorted to loose shirts so I won't feel uncomfy with my weight gain. I peaked at around 114 lbs. That's when I realized that I needed to do something quick else I would balloon even more. I was already feeling the added weight on my body. My injured knee (injury I had for more than 5 years now) hurt badly, too. I was feeling conscious and depressed. It was really frustrating.

I tried to look for a fast, safe, healthy and easy way to lose weight but nothing worked. Until I learned about The Military Diet / 3-day diet from DavaoMommy Maan's blog (thank you, sis, for sharing!). I googled about it and read other people's feedback and experiences when they tried it. First thing I noticed is that the food listed was almost always in our kitchen, meaning they're basically very easy to find, so I thought, maybe I could give it a try. If I lose weight on my first 3 days of doing it, then that would jumpstart my weight loss journey, I thought then. So, I tried. And guess what, I lost 4 lbs. on my first round! Yes, that's 3 days after doing the diet.

Long story short, I have been into it for 3 months now and I have gotten used to it already. In two months, I was able to lose 14 lbs.! Honestly, at first, it was hard because I was a rice person and I love sweets. But eversince I started with the military diet, even during my rest days from the diet (3-day diet, 4-day rest days), I still avoided rice. So, no rice for three months now. Well, I sometimes give in to a bite of sweets but that's about it. During the diet of course I don't eat any sweets, unless specified on the list of allowed food from the diet. I thought, I would not waste the effort I made during my first attempt. If I lost 4 lbs. the first time, then I could lose more if I continue.

I checked this morning and I weigh 99 lbs. And guess what, I could fit into my small sized clothes again! Hurrah! I am really, really happy and grateful about the result! I did it! I don't want to be too complacent though so I am still into the diet. My target weight is 95 lbs. If I could go back to 90 lbs. then better. :-)

Thank God for giving me the strength to make it through. It was hard. I am not sure if it's because of the diet but there were times I had migraine attacks, maybe because my body was adjusting with my food intake(?). But I got past that stage, too!

When people ask me about the military diet, I always remind them to do their best not to cheat for the diet to work fast, but I honestly almost always cheat. Haha! Please let me explain. You see, I am the only one cooking food here at home so no choice but to taste the food whenever I cook. Also, when I prepare food for my son, I always make it a point to taste his food first to make sure it's okay before I serve it to him. So, there. The "cheating" part wasn't intentional, it's just unavoidable. :-)

During my first few weeks on the military diet, I tried to do a least 30-minute exercise in the morning. But I was not able to follow through anymore because I was too occupied last summer. Again, I am not so sure if it applies to all as we have different body types but for me, yes, I was still able to lose all that weight even with minimal to no exercise and even with the unintentional "cheating". :-)

Anyway, I just want to show you the food that I usually eat when I am on the military diet or otherwise known as the 3-day diet. I sometimes substitute some of the food, but I only substitute it with the allowed food also listed under their website.

So, there you go. For the list of food and substitutes, you may visit The Military Diet Website

By the way, I am uncertain if it has a positive effect with the weight loss using the military diet but since January, I have always been drinking lemon water (sometimes with cucumber). I have also been watching or counting the calories of the food I eat during my rest days from the diet.

I don't know if you can see any difference but here's a before and after photo of myself.
Left pic was three days before I started the military diet. I was 114 lbs. :-(
Right pic was taken last month. I was around 101 lbs. there already. :-)

That's about it. I hope I was able to inspire you in one way or another. Go ahead and try it! It may be effective on you, too. Based on my experience, I can honestly say that it's a healthy way to lose weight since you don't have to take any artificial supplements whatsoever. :-)

Anyone of you tried the military diet / 3-day diet, too? How was it? Please share your experience! I would love to know!

  1. hi~ just wondering where you bought saltine crackers? And what hotdog brand you used? hehhe We learned about the diet from a friend since it worked on him but he told us not to stay long doing it (max of 4 weeks) because its target is really just to make you lose the water weight making it easier for you to exercise. Anyway, just what he said. Hope you would answer my question :D

    1. Hi Wendy! Thank you for dropping by! I actually did not buy saltine crackers. What I ate during the whole time I was into the diet was wheat crackers. :-) As for the hotdogs, well, I bought Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs, hihi! :-) In my case naman, it really did work. I am now able to wear the clothes that I couldn't wear during the time I was on my heavy side, as in! Now, I feel really happy that I can wear them again! During the whole time I was into the diet strictly, I think I was only able to exercise the first two weeks for about 20 to 30 minutes (not even daily). I was not able to continue with the exercise because I got busy with more important things. But then, amazingly, I continued on losing weight! And I lost inches off my waist, too! :-) Goodluck, Wendy! Hope you achieve your target weight also. :-)
